TOPSHAM — Taylor Alleano and Malik Geiger each won their weight classes as Oxford Hills placed fourth in the Eastern Class A Regional Wrestling Championships on Saturday at Mt. Ararat High School.

The Vikings finished with 84 points. Skowhegan won the event with 180.5. Cony was second with 144 followed by Nokomis with 97.5. Mt. Blue took fifth with 70. Edward Little was ninth with 40.

Alleano won in the 113-pound class. He beat Cony’s Josh Gilbert by a score of 8-6. Geiger won in the 170-pound class. He beat Griffin Richards of Cony in a decision, 13-2.

The Vikings also earned second place finishes from Cordell Brooks and Jon Hankey. Brooks lost in the 120-pound finals to Skowhegan’s Tyler Craig by technical fall, 18-3. Hankey reached the finals in the 126-pound class and lost to Skowhegan’s Luke Bolster, 7-6.

Oxford Hills also had a win in the consolation finals. Logan Truman won in the 152-pound class. He pinned Westbrook’s Kyle Hanson at 2:10.

Mt. Blue had one wrestler reach the finals. JT Williams reached the 220-pound championship match. He lost to Cony’s Nic Benner in a pin at 1:47.

In the consolation round, Mt. Blue got a third from Will Gunter at 285. He beat Mt. Ararat’s Pierce Knorr, 7-3. Tyler Sennick also won at 195 in the consolation round. He beat Westbrook’s Brandon Lajoie with a pin at 48 seconds. Nick Hickey won a 160. He beat Mt. Ararat’s John Hetherman, 8-6.

Danny Reed took fourth for the Cougars at 138. He slot to Windham’s Dominick Cancelarich by pin at 3:47. Michael Voter also was fourth at 106. He lost to Windham’s Samantha Frank by pin at 2:31.

Edward Little’s top performer was Sheldon Bang. He lost in the championship round at 132. Skowhegan’s Julian Sirois won the match, 4-1.

The Red Eddies also took third at 146 pounds. Skyler Bang beat Mt. Ararat’s Adam Ewing with a pin at 2:49.

At 182, Mike Williams lost in the consolation round to Mt. Ararat’s Brandon Jusseaume by pin at 56 seconds.
