AVON — A Temple man and a baby suffered minor injuries Tuesday night when the car they were riding in struck a guardrail on Route 4, police said.

Driver Eugene Burnell, 31, lost control of the 1995 Dodge, Lt. Aaron Hayden of the Maine State Police said Wednesday.

He said the report filed by Trooper Reid Bond noted that the accident was caused by the icy roadway and the vehicle was traveling too fast for road conditions.

Passenger Jacob Hiscock, 14 months, was secured in a child safety seat, Hayden said.

Passengers Adam Gross, 18, Ann Hiscock, 31, and Christine Choate, 31, were not injured, Hayden said. Their addresses were not known.

NorthStar EMS ambulance and Phillips firefighters responded to the accident reported at 10:19 p.m. No other information was available Wednesday.
