LEWISTON — Citylink bus service in the Twin Cities will close down early Thursday afternoon due to anticipation about heavy snow and bad weather.

The Twin Cities’ bus service will stop operations after the 4:15 p.m. run from Lewiston. Auburn buses will stop operations after the 3:45 p.m. runs to the Auburn Mall and New Auburn.

The Twin Cities’ free downtown shuttle will also have its final run of the day at 3:45 p.m. The last Minot Ave. run will be at 4:15 p.m.

Service will return Friday, but transit officials did not know when.

Harold S. Allen, Transportation Supervisor for Western Maine Transportation, said he would be checking the roads Friday morning to determine when service would return.

The Citylink service’s Twitter feed, @purplebusla, will be the best way for riders to check on service status, Allen said.
