1927 – 2014

SOUTH PARIS — Jack Davis, 86, a longtime resident of the Lewiston-Auburn area and Florida, died Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris after a long illness.

Jack was born in Auburn on June 20, 1927, son of the late George and Anne (Donderro) Davis. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Edward Little High School. He went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Navy.

Jack worked for the family businesses — Puritan Chevrolet and Davis Cadillac & Oldsmobile — in his younger years, and then went on to become a professional golf and ski instructor. These two sporting activities were Jack’s personal favorites and he truly enjoyed helping others learn to enjoy them as well. He was a member of the Tranquil Lodge and was a Kora Shriner.

Jack enjoyed being with his friends — especially going out to eat with them — skiing, playing golf, sailing, flying planes and riding his motorcycle.

He leaves a son, Craig Davis and wife, Linda, of Poland; a daughter, Carole (Davis) Harris and husband, Andrew, of Auburn; and a granddaughter, Ashley Davis, of Poland.

He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Davis.
