1947 – 2014

LEWISTON — Tony E. Kelly Sr., 66, of Poland, died Thursday, Feb. 13, in the loving arms of his wife, Jackie, at Central Maine Medical Center, following a long illness.

He was born in Missouri Valley, Iowa, on Nov. 26, 1947, a son of the late Glenn Thomas and Betty (Walters) Kelly. Tony proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and the Cuban Blockade, and received the National Defense Medal. He loved his trade as a carpenter and worked for 35 years in the city of Lewiston Public Works Department, making many friends there. His carpentry skills are displayed in buildings throughout the city, as well as in the homes of family and friends.

Tony married his true love, Jacqueline Larose, on Oct. 17, 1969. Tony attended Grace Lutheran Church and was a member of the Poland Spring Country Club. He loved playing golf and spending time on the course with his many friends. He also enjoyed going to the casinos, playing cards and spending time with his wife and family. He was Papa to his eight grandchildren and loved every minute he spent with them.

He leaves his wife of 44 years, Jackie Kelly, of Poland; a daughter, Jacinda and husband, Scott Chaisson, of Orrington; three sons, Tony Kelly Jr. of Auburn, Timothy and wife, Amy Kelly, of Poland and Thomas and wife, Tina Kelly, of Minot; his eight grandchildren, Olivia, Marissa, Allison, Christopher, Evan, Lucas, Ryan and Madelyn; two brothers, Rick and wife, Peggy Kelly, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, and Billy Kelly of Lacey, Wash.; and mother-in-law, Patricia Larose, of Auburn.

He was predeceased by his father, Glenn; stepmother, Harriett Kelly; a brother, Rodney Kelly; and father-in-law, Marcel Larose Sr.
