BRIDGTON — The first leg of this year’s Lake Region’s Got Talent! was held Feb. 16 on the stage of the Mayfair Theater at the Magic Lantern. This showcase for gifted entertainers is produced and hosted as a fundraiser for the nonprofit Lake Region Community Theatre. Money raised will help fund the annual plays produced by LRCT that highlight the talent of the communities.

Peter Allen of Gorham emceed the hour-long show. The audience cheered for and encouraged every entry.

Following each performance, judges Rob Juergens and Jerry Walker, provided supportive feedback.

At the end of the show, Allen delivered the good news that the following acts are moving on: Reiyn Hart, an 8-year-old a capella singer whose voice Juergens described as “beautiful and clear”; Gene Bahr, an artist and taxidermist, who played the guitar, harmonica and sang what Walker said was “a very tender song”; Ethan Strain, who played the guitar and sang a song in which Juergens could feel the emotion; and The Orphans Girls, an acro dance group featuring Savana Bradford, Liza Collins-Shcrader, Kristen Farwell, Laura Taylor and Kendyl Ridlon, middle school student dancers the judges admired for staying in rhythm throughout their routine.

All of the above will perform in the semi-finals at the Magic Lantern at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 2.

In the meantime, seven other acts will appear on the stage at the Magic Lantern for their quarter-final performance at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23. They are: Shannon Fillebrown, singer; Emma Nadeau-, dancer; Polly Vaillant, singer and pianist; Jessica Frum, monologue; Lily Schofield, singer; Forgotten Remix including Cassidy MacDonald and Savannah Silke, singers; and Christian Martin, guitarist and singer.

Tickets for the quarter-finals are $5 and available at the door. Tickets for the semi-finals on March 2 and the finals on March 9 are $10. The audience will be part of the judging for the semi-finals and finals. During the final show, the top three acts will compete for a chance to win a share of more than $1,000 in cash and prizes.

All four shows will be televised on Lake Region Television after the show dates. Check www.lakeregiontv.org for the schedule.
