SOUTH CARTHAGE —

A pre-show jam session will start at 6:15 p.m.

JimmyJo and the Jumbol’Ayuhs hails from the bayous of mid-coast Maine, but they play in the traditional “dance hall” style from southwest Louisiana that features Cajun accordion, fiddle, guitar, electric bass, drums, Cajun triangle (ti’-fer), and Zydeco rub board (fratoire).

Band members Jim Joseph, Pam Weeks, Bill Olson, Elna Joseph and Kit Garovoy have studied with many of the Cajun “masters” in Louisiana and bring to the audience an authentic Cajun sound. Come on out and listen to both modern and traditional Cajun 2-steps and waltzes, Cajun blues numbers, old-time Cajun reels and an occasional Zydeco number, or dance the night away.

While it’s still winter in Maine, this concert will warm you up, just like being in Louisiana. Most songs are in Cajun French, often in three-, four- or five-part harmony.

Skye Theater is at 9 Highland Drive. Tickets are $15. More information is available at www.necelticarts.com or call 207-562-4445.
