1948 – 2014

OXFORD — Ronald M. Knightly Sr. passed away at his home on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

He was born Dec. 29, 1948, to Maurice W. and Barbara (Bonney) Knightly. He graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1968. Ron was in the United States Marine Corp. serving in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart. He belonged to a Vietnam Veteran group in Lewiston and very much enjoyed going to there meetings. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 9787. He was a master burner tech working for L.M. Longley & Son for many years. He also drove logging and dump trucks. His biggest enjoyment was going camping and hanging out with family and friends.

Ron leaves his mother of South Paris; brothers, William Bonney and  wife, Norma Jean, of Brownsville, Ky., Merton Knightly of South Paris, Brian Knightly and wife, Debi, of Upton; a sister, Brenda Heaward and companion, Debbie Leighton, of Oxford.

He was predeceased by his father; a son, Ronald Knightly Jr.; his companion of many years and love of his life, Doris Nelson.
