LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing will host an informational meeting for the YWCA Breast Cancer Encore Program from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 3, at the Dempsey Center, 29 Lowell St., fifth floor.
YWCA Encore is a free eight-week program designed specifically for breast cancer patients and survivors. Each weekly session includes 30 minutes of gentle exercise in warm water. After exercising, participants may stay for a moderate-intensity water fitness class. Participants will have free access to the YWCA pool and may participate in lap and family swims or water fitness programs for the full eight weeks.
The YWCA’s water programs are designed to increase range of motion, muscle strength and enhance one’s general level of fitness.
YWCA of Central Maine Aquatics Director Linda Sherman will lead the sessions.
The Encore sessions will be offered from 5 to 5:30 p.m. on March 6, 13, 20 and 27, and April 3, 10, 17 and 24.
