AUBURN — Auburn Adult and Community Education is hosting a series of free workshops related to the continuous improvement efforts of Auburn schools.

The Auburn School Department is tasked with “Empowering Life-Long Learners to Succeed in a World Yet Imagined.” To achieve the mission, ASD personnel have embraced the concept of continuous improvement.

Community members are invited to learn about the use of technology, effective teaching and learning, school finance and how the work relates to the ASD mission and vision through the following workshops:

“ASD Mission and Vision Unwrapped”: Tuesday, March 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. Staff will explain how the mission and vision are used to guide the daily work in schools and programs. Participants will experience how staff and students “unwrap” these statements and apply them to learning.

“A Night in an Auburn School Classroom”: Tuesday, March 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. Many community members are familiar with how technology is continually added to classrooms to enhance learning. However, the teachers are still the central hub in facilitating that learning.

During the workshop, participants will get to experience the work that goes into effective classroom design and delivery. Learn firsthand how classes are preparing learners for the road ahead.

“Financial Planning for a School Year”: Thursday, March 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. The purpose of the workshop is to give community members a look at how the budgeting process begins in Auburn schools. Get an inside look, from the decisions to offer certain programs to the mandates by federal and state agencies.

“Technology in the Classroom”: Thursday, March 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. Join staff as they let participants experience the technology just like the students and staff. The hands-on workshop will give an in-depth opportunity to explore how learning is maximized in Auburn schools through the use of technology.

Contact Auburn Adult and Community Education at 333-6661 to register for one or all of the workshops.
