INDUSTRY — Residents will consider buying a new plow truck and sander and enacting a new Building Setback Ordinance at the annual town meeting Saturday.

The town meeting begins with electing a moderator and a selectman with voting from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 8 at the Town Hall. Selectman Lee Ireland is unopposed for a three-year term

There are 39 articles on the warrant and action on them begins at 2 p.m.  If all pass as written, the amount to be raised and appropriated would be $399,570.44, Town Clerk Angel Davis said. The amount is $8,842.44 more than last year, she said.

The proposed Building Setback Ordinance would reduce the road setback for structures from 60 feet to 50 feet, Davis said. The ordinance is in the Annual Town Report and copies are available at the Town Hall, she said.

Article 39 asks residents if they want to authorize selectmen to negotiate and purchase a 2013 or newer plow truck and sander. The truck and equipment would need to meet the same specifications as the plow and sander truck purchased in 2009.

Yearly payments would not exceed $20,000 for up to six years. The down payment would not exceed $50,000 and would come from the town’s undesignated fund balance.
