LITCHFIELD — Rachel Sukeforth, a lifelong resident of Litchfield, announces her candidacy for Maine State House of Representatives District 82, encompassing the towns of Litchfield, Monmouth, and Wales, as a Democrat.

“To make Maine a prosperous place for all Mainers, we need to take a look at all aspects of the economy, the social well-being of our communities and our environment. There are many key investments that we should be making on a statewide basis to help our towns and cities thrive. Ensuring access to affordable, quality health care, fully funding our public schools, and expanding conservation practices should be the first steps we take toward making Maine the best state to live and work,” Sukeforth said.

Sukeforth serves on the board of the Rural Community Action Ministries and volunteers as an Ambassador for Women, Work, and Community.

“My community has taught me so much about being a hard-working and thoughtful person, and I believe that it’s time I give back by representing their interests in Augusta.”

Sukeforth attended Litchfield Public Schools and graduated from Hebron Academy. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y. She is currently employed by Woods End Laboratories in Mt. Vernon.
