BANGOR (AP) — An Orono man charged with stabbing his mother’s boyfriend has pleaded not guilty.

Dorian Guerin pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Penobscot County court to charges of attempted murder and assault. He remains jailed on $100,000 bail.

Authorities said the 21-year-old Guerin inflicted life-threatening injuries when he stabbed the victim dozens of times about the face, head and upper body at an Orono home in early December. Guerin also suffered minor injuries.

Prosecutors said the 50-year-old victim is still recovering.

Authorities did not say what led to the fight.

Guerin’s lawyer told WABI-TV (http://bit.ly/1oLFQ6w ) that she is still awaiting the results of examinations to determine her client’s mental health and criminal responsibility.
