NEW SHARON — A plow truck struck a support pole on Starks Road near the Somerset County line Thursday, taking down two utility poles and a transformer.
It also ripped down the wires from a transformer to a house, Franklin County Deputy Sandy Burke said.
Travis Pond, 31, of New Sharon was driving the truck owned by his family’s company, EJ Pond & Sons of New Sharon, he said. The town hires the company to plow its roads.
The estimated damage to the truck was about $300, Burke said.
Damage was to the poles and other equipment was unknown.
The road was shut down from about 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Central Maine Power had the transformer back up and FairPoint Communication was working to put its lines up, Burke said.
Burke was assisted by Franklin County Sheriff’s Cpl. Christopher Chase at the scene. New Sharon Fire Department also responded.
