LEWISTON — A transient was arrested and charged with robbery and aggravated assault stemming from a Saturday night home invasion at 107 Pierce St., police said.

A woman called 911 to report that a group of men forced their way into her apartment and were beating up her, her boyfriend and her brother.

Police arrested Michael Hodgkins, 25. He remained Tuesday at Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn in lieu of $2,500 cash bail.

Police identified two other suspects, but havn’t filed charges against them.

The men had tried to steal an Xbox video game console and cash, but fled without taking anything when one of the victims, Jamie Chapman, called 911, Lt. Michael McGonagle said.

Hodgkins struck John Lombard, Chapman’s boyfriend, in the head with a wrench he had brought to the apartment, McGonagle said. Lombard was taken to a hospital where he was treated and released.

Hodgkins knew the victims before the robbery. He had been invited to stay in the apartment for a couple of days because he was homeless, McGonagle said.
