The Upper Andro Anglers Alliance, a non-profit corporation formed in 2008 for the purpose of conserving, protecting, restoring and promoting the fishing resources relating to the Upper Androscoggin River, its tributaries and environs dissolved the corporation effective Feb. 27, 2014.
UAAA, with headquarters in Bethel, transferred its assets and administration to the Mollyockett Chapter of Trout Unlimited. The Chapter encompasses the western Maine region from Casco to Rangeley. A subcommittee will be formed to continue many of the programs established by the Anglers Alliance.
Said Scott Stone, past president of UAAA and TU Chapter member, “ The Mollyockett chapter is excited about carrying on the work of UAAA-the Family Fishing Festival, float stocking, river clean ups and the annual 2-Fly Contest. UAAA has done a great job developing the Upper Andro into a desirable trout fishing destination for wading and drift-boat fishing. TU has been working with UAAA and the Maine Dept. of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife to develop a management plan for this section of the Androscoggin. We expect to further the good work that UAAA has begun.”
The annual Fishing Festival, which has been held at Angevine Park in Bethel, will take place in Norway and be hosted by the Norway Recreation Department.
An Upper Andro Anglers page on Facebook will continue to post news about fishing activities on the Upper Androscoggin. Correspondence should be addressed to TU Chapter President, 458 Plains Road, Harrison, ME 04040.
