1943 – 2014

LEWISTON — Cecilia M. Footman, “Cecile,” 70, of Hudon Road in Lisbon Falls, died suddenly on Monday, March 24, at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born in Biddeford on Aug. 7, 1943, a daughter of the late Lauretta (Fournier) Anderson. Cecile married the love of her life, Raymond Footman, on June 29, 1963, at St. Louis Church in Auburn. They were married for 34 years, until he passed away on March 19, 1997. She worked for Knapp Shoe for several years and then went on to clean houses, until she retired in 2013.

Cecile enjoyed camping, fishing and snowmobiling in her younger years. She took several trips to Bermuda and went on a Carnival Cruise to Mexico. She also enjoyed going out to eat with her friends, going to plays and her cats. Cecile volunteered at The Public Theatre in Lewiston, Hope Haven, the food bank at the MTM school in Lisbon Falls and at the Community Little Theatre. She was also a member of the Lewiston Senior Citizens.

She leaves two brothers, Ronald E. Giasson and wife, Katie, of Sabattus and Paul Giasson of Auburn; four sisters, Theresa Lemieux of Lewiston, Jean Mongeau of Lewiston, Gerealdine Giasson of Lewiston and Diane Jackson of Fayetteville, N.C.; and special friends, Ora Stevens, Elsie Sullivan and Rita Matthews. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews and several great-great-nieces and -nephews.

She was predeceased by four sisters, Elizabeth Bruneau, Carmen Therriault, Rita St. Hilaire and Susie Gendron; a brother-in-law, Lester Jackson; and stepfather, Edward Anderson.
