1927 – 2014

NORWAY — Norman G. Ricker, 86, of 35 Lincoln Dr., Lewiston, died on Wednesday, March 26, at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway following a brief illness.

He was born in Lewiston on Oct. 23, 1927, the son of the late Harold P. and Carmel (Fecteau) Ricker and had been a resident of this community all of his life. He was educated in Lewiston schools and was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1946.

He married the former Gratia Boucher in December 1951, and she died on Feb. 9, 1992. He served with the U.S. Navy for 22 years from April 6, 1945, to Nov. 1, 1966, having served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and in Vietnam.

He was employed for 15 years at Country Kitchen until his retirement in October 1989. Norman was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, American Legion Post 22, Dion-Longley VFW Post 9150, Le Passe Temps Club, Midtown Athletic Club, Lewiston Social, Hurricane and ACME Clubs.

He is survived by three daughters, Dale Redmun and her husband, Brian, of Lewiston, Robin L. Jacobsen of Lewiston and Christel C. Desjardins and her husband, Guy, of Sabattus; one son, Scott A. Ricker and his wife, Cindy, of Huntersville, N.C.; one brother, Richard H. Ricker of Lewiston; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, George J. Ricker, who died Aug. 28, 1996.
