The Otis Federal Credit Union in Jay recently gave a $5,000 matching gift to the Washburn-Norlands Living History Center in Livermore for its barn-raising fund. The center had to raise $5,000 in new gifts between Sept. 19 and Oct. 31 to qualify for the matching grant. In all, $9,780 was raised from individual donations, meaning that a total of $14,780 was raised in the six-week period for the center’s Raise the Barn: Rebuild the Magic Campaign. Norlands’ campaign goal is $250,000 to completely rebuild an 1860s-era historic barn, lost to a fire in 2008. The barn is the center’s primary classroom and heart of its working farm. At the donation, Ryan Souther, marketing/public relations for Otis Federal Credit Union, and Nancy Blodgett, far right, vice president of Otis Federal Credit Union, present the check to Norlands’ staff, from left, Anna Keller, caretaker; Willi Irish, director of interpretation and training; Mary Castonguay, vice president of the board of trustees; and Sheri Leahan, director.
