1946 – 2014

GREENWOOD — Charles A. Lowe, 67, of Greenwood, passed away due to cancer on Friday, March 28.

He was born in Norway on Dec. 14, 1946, and graduated from West Paris High School in June 1966. He joined the U. S. Army shortly after high school, and served in Germany and Vietnam as a cook and was honorably discharged after his reserve time in June 1977. He then went to work for the Maine Department of Transportation and retired after 25 years. He also worked at Mt. Abram for 10 years and enjoyed doing jobs for other people.

He loved his time in the outdoors, plowing with his Kubota in the winter, fishing, splitting wood and yard maintenance throughout the rest of the year. Throughout his life, he also loved his time spent at Yoke Pond Camps in Kokadjo.

He is survived by his wife and soul mate, Fran Begin-Lowe; daughter, Bethany Hale and husband, Kenneth; grandson, Ayden Hale; sister, Gloria McAllister and husband, Glyde; stepmother, Donna Lowe; stepbrother and stepsisters, Mike Lowe, Linda Lowe-Jordan and Kelly Hasselbach; and his countless near and dear friends from Mt. Abram and around the world.

He will be greatly and dearly missed by all who knew him.
