DIXFIELD — The Police Department responded to 36 calls since March 25m, including the following:


* A Dixfield resident reported at 9:12 p.m. March 27 they found an abandoned vehicle at an accident scene on Route 142 near Carthage. Lt. Jeff Howe said police issued a criminal summons to Benjamin Stone, 36, of Wilmington, Mass., for failure to give notice of accident by quickest means possible. Howe said Stone didn’t report the accident until March 30.


* A Rumford resident reported at 7:43 p.m. April 3 that while driving west on Route 2, they struck and killed a deer with their 2006 Jeep Commander SUV. Nobody was injured, but the vehicle sustained about $1,000 damage.

* A Thorton, N.H., resident reported at 5:32 a.m. April 3 that while driving on Route 2 they hit black ice, lost control of their 2000 Ford Ranger and hit a snowbank. Howe said the truck sustained considerable damage, but the driver was not injured.

* A Dixfield resident reported at 2:42 p.m. March 30 that while traveling on Canton Point Road, he hit a patch of slush and lost control of his 2004 Chevrolet truck. The truck crossed the centerline and struck a snowbank, causing more than $1,000 damage. There were no injuries.
