FARMINGTON — Parents of a young boy face child endangerment charges after several people reported a child under age 5 running down Route 4 on Thursday afternoon.

The child was not wearing a shirt, socks or shoes when the report came to police at approximately 3:20 p.m., Farmington police secretary Bonnie Pomeroy said Friday.

Sgt. Michael Adcock talked with the boy’s parents, Jason Ladd, 29, and Amber Ladd, 28, before he issued each a summons on a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child, she said.

The first person who saw the child went to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department to report the incident, she said. It was reported more than once, she said.

A woman stopped and waited with the child until police arrived.

Franklin County sheriff’s Lt. David St. Laurent arrived first and took custody of the child. Adcock arrived shortly after and took the boy to his parents’ residence, Pomeroy said.

“We were familiar with the child and knew where the parents lived,” Pomeroy said.

The couple is scheduled to appear June 3 at Farmington District Court.
