Live Stations in Spanish

PORTLAND — Live Stations of the Cross will be presented outside and spoken in Spanish at Sacred Heart/St. Dominic Parish on 65 Mellen Street on Good Friday, April 18, starting at 3 p.m. Featuring live actors, the stations will begin in the church and then move to the parking lot area.

The Stations of the Cross began as the practice of pious pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem to retrace the final journey of Jesus Christ to Calvary. Later, for the many that wanted to pass along the same route but could not make the trip to the Holy Land, a practice developed that eventually took the form of the 14 stations. It is one of the most important devotions honoring the passion of Jesus.
