1946 – 2014

AUGUSTA — Gertrude Williams, 67, of Jay, died Tuesday evening, April 22, at MaineGeneral Medical Center.

She was born in Anson on Nov. 19, 1946, a daughter of Joseph and Faye (Thomas) Ellis. She attended schools in Solon and Bingham. On May 23, 1964, she married Wallace Williams in Wilton.

Gertrude worked in local shoe shops over the years and most recently at Forster Manufacturing Co. She was a member of the George Bunten American Legion Post No. 10 Ladies’ Auxiliary for many years.

Gertrude loved collectibles and crafts and her home in Jay is adorned by many. In her early years she enjoyed traveling to local fairs and recently flea-markets and yard sales.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Wallace, of Jay; children, Dale Williams of Jay and Nelda Williams of Livermore Falls; four grandchildren, Jazzmin Jewell of Wilton, Journey Williams and her children, Audriaunna and Bentley of Lewiston, Dale B. Williams of Augusta and Zachary Williams of Waterville; and siblings, Faye Domer of New Jersey, Esther Boughton of Tennessee, Joseph Ellis Jr. of Florida and Elwin Ellis of New Sharon.

She was predeceased by a son, Donald Williams, in 2008; and a sister, Georgie Domer.
