PARIS — The Paris Public Library is hosting two events on Sunday, May 4, in honor of Star Wars Day.

From 1 to 2:30 p.m., the Children’s Room will offer a variety of crafts and activities for young apprentices to hone their skills and test their knowledge of the Force, including searching for asteroids, directing dummy proton torpedoes and attacking a Death Star.

The program is free and open to all children in the community. Those interested in participating are asked to contact the library so sufficient materials are available to assemble enough light sabers.

From 5 to 6:30 p.m., staff will hold a Star Wars team trivia competition and pizza party. Assemble a team of Masters and Lords to confront others or come solo and join an alliance. Questions will cover the entire Star Wars canon.

Participants to both events are welcome to attend in their Star Wars Universe attire.

For more information or to register for the activities, call the library at 743-6994 or e-mail paris.public.library@MSLN.net. Information will also be posted on the libary’s Facebook page.

The first organized celebration of Star Wars Day took place in Toronto in 2011, but references to “May the Fourth be With You” go back to 1979.
