TURNER — Three people have returned nomination papers for selectman in the May 20 election.

Former selectmen Chairman Angelo Terreri, Kelly Arsenault-Cooper and Kevin Nichols are vying for the seat Terreri held before he resigned in March to seek the town manager’s position.

That job was given to Kurt Schaub.

Terreri said this week that he’d like to finish the year left on his term and continue his goal of keeping costs down. He has been on the board eight years.

Arsenault-Cooper has been volunteering in town for 17 years. She is a safety officer for the Fire Department and is secretary and treasurer of the Fire Department Association. She has been an EMT for Turner Rescue for the past 11 years, and was an election clerk.

She said she’s excited about the prospect of serving as a selectman.

Nichols has been involved in town activities for 25 years. He was in law enforcement for 15 years and would like to give back to the community, he said.

Also to be decided at the polls May 20 is whether to charge 7 percent interest annually on unpaid taxes after the due dates of Nov. 1, 2014, and May 1, 2015.

Voters will also be asked to raise and appropriate $5,000 for fireworks for community celebrations.
