1954 – 2014

JAY — David J. Lingard Sr., 59, of Jay, died unexpectedly on Monday evening, May 5, at his home.

He was born in Farmington on Oct. 7, 1954, the youngest of 11 children to Ray Smith Lingard and Lucille (Williams) Lingard. He attended local schools, graduating from Jay High School in 1972. David enlisted in the U.S. Navy after school and served during Vietnam.

Upon his return from the service, he resided in Jacksonville, Fla., during the mid-1970s, where he worked various jobs, including driving cab. He moved back to Maine in 1978 and worked at G.H. Bass for many years. He later worked at the former Boise Cascade paper mill in Rumford.

David was very mechanically inclined and enjoyed tinkering on anything he could get his hands on, especially his granddaughters’ vehicles. He also enjoyed watching old Westerns and doing crossword puzzles.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Debbie Bootier, of Jay; two children, Merry St. Pierre and her husband, Jeff, of Livermore and David Lingard Jr. of Farmington; two grandchildren, Lorayanna and LaDesta Tracy of Livermore; siblings, Marcia Acker of Florida, Jeanne Oakes of Jay, Ray Lingard of Nevada, Lillian Libby of Gorham and Lawrence Lingard of Windham; mother-in-law, Dorothy Foley, of Farmington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; and siblings, Mildred Dresser, Elizabeth Cushing, Ronald King, Janet Dickey and Vivian Rousselle.
