1923 – 2014

LEWISTON — Marie Lapointe, 90, a resident of Montello Heights in Lewiston, formerly of Jay, passed away, Saturday, May 10, at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston, where she had resided for the past month.

She was born August 19, 1923, in Jay, the daughter of Francois and Aldea (Charest) Ducheney. Marie was a 1942 graduate of Jay High School. On September 1, 1945, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, she married her husband of 66 years, Charlie Lapointe. He passed away July 18, 2012.

She worked at Livermore Falls Glove Shop, Bates Mill in Lewiston; and Otis Mill in Jay during World War II. She devoted her life to caring for her family and serving her church. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, serving as a Eucherist Minister, Lector and member and past President of the Daughters of Isabella. She was also a member of Ladies of St. Ann and Jay-Livermore Falls Senior Citizens. She enjoyed bowling for Senior Citizens, but she especially loved traveling. After Charlie retired, they traveled to the Holy Land and Rome, which was the highlight of all of their travels.

She is survived by three sons, Bernard Lapointe and his wife, Kathy, of Litchfield, NH., Raymond Lapointe of Clinton, Mass., and Michael Lapointe of Canton; 5 grandchildren, Michael J. Lapointe and his wife, Maura, Aimee Garth and her husband, Phil, Seth Brown and his wife, Haruna, Ian Lapointe and his wife, Ana, and William Lapointe; 4 great-grandchildren, Matthew and Jonathan Lapointe, Emilie Lapointe, and Coco Brown; two sisters-in-law, Eva Mae Ducheney of Livermore Falls, and Madeleine Ducheney of Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Charlie Lapointe, son Rick Lapointe, three brothers, Larry, Bill and Rene Ducheney and three sisters, Cecile Veilleux, Jeannette Blais, and Lauretta Hardy.
