NORWAY — Auditions will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, and Wednesday, May 28, at the Guy E. Rowe School, 219 Main St., for the comic musical “Rough ‘N’ Ready.”

In the spring of 1969, Oxford Hills High School’s music department staged a production of “Rough ‘N’ Ready” which is about Rough and Ready, California during the Gold Rush. The leaders of the town were unhappy about a mining dispute resolution, and voted to secede from the United States, only rejoining after they realized they couldn’t celebrate the Fourth of July if they weren’t part of the union.

Cast will be 20 named characters with speaking parts and another 15 or so dancers and singers. While the majority of these roles will be filled by teens and young adults, there are roles for age-appropriate actors, so all are encouraged to audition.

Producers are also interested in hearing from people who are interested in playing in the pit and those who would like to work on tech.

Oxford Hills Music and Performing Arts Association has scheduled performance dates for Aug. 14-24 at the Grange Theater, Whitman St.
