RUMFORD — Gary L. “Harvey” McGuire, 62, died Wednesday, May 14, as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident. He was a resident of Somerset Street in Rumford.
Born in Rumford on March 21, 1952, he was a son of Elaine McGuire. He was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1971. Harvey worked at Arbe’s Carpet and was a bouncer at Barnboard in Rumford, where he was often heard saying, “You don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here.” He was also a taxi driver for Mountain Valley Taxi.
Harvey was a member of Rumford Falls Aerie No. 1248, Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed spending time at Murray’s Cove at Worthley Pond and blues festivals, and loved his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Survivors include his mother, Elaine Gaudet, of Rumford; five sisters, Pastor Judy McGuire of Wadsworth, Ohio, Susan Cyr Kolek and her husband, Douglas, of Dracut, Mass., Gail Cyr Guile and her husband, Larry, of Groveton, N.H, Melanie Cyr Babb and her fiancé, Steven Regnere, of Rumford and Ernestine Wood and her husband, Timothy, of Malone, N.Y.; and a brother-in-law, Scott Babb, of Peru.
He was predeceased by a brother, Daryl Cyr, of Rumford; his grandmother, Catherine McGuire; and his stepfather, Francis Gaudet.
