JAY —  Daughters of Isabella Circle 677, St. Rose of Lima Church, held its monthly business meeting on May 14 to discuss upcoming events.

Chancellor Lauriann Castonguay led in recitation of the Rosary. Draping of the charter was held for deceased members Dora Slovak, Jeannine Bryant, Eloise Dumais Gravel and Marie Lapointe. Pledge to the flag was recited.

Recording Secretary Jackie Castonguay read the roll call of officers and the minutes of the April business meeting. Thank-you cards were received from Laurie Gagnepain and Dot Morgan, family of Jeannie Williams, family of Doris Slovak, family of Alice Barker, Georgia Hershey and Spruce Mountain Middle School.

An invitation for Brad Morin’s ordination as a priest was received. Regent Denise Rodzen read a letter from the state regent. There were no new applications for membership. Vice Regent Annette Melanson sent a get-well card to Doris Ouellette and sympathy cards to the families of Jeannine Bryant, Dora Slovak, Eloise Gravel, Marie Lapointe and Frances Moreau.

Gina Labbe spoke about the Mass on Sunday, May 18, and said she has all the positions filled. She reminded everyone that they are to wear a red blouse and black pants.

Melanson reported  she needs two members to help her get the newsletter together. Amy Ouellette Newman said she would help.

Next on the agenda was the Baccalaureate on Friday, June 6, which Kim Couture will be chairing, assisted by Laurie Ganepain.

Fern Doiron spoke about the seniors bus that goes to Fryeburg Fair. Each senior rides for $10. Anyone interested in should call Doiron at 897-2782.

Gina Labbe said help is needed to clean up at Holy Cross Cemetery on Friday, May,23. Those wishing to help should call her  at 645­-3037. Melanson mentioned the August outing and asked where everyone would like to go.

After the business, Kim Couture held a meeting about the Memorial Day Parade. Those who are going to be in the parade were asked if they were walking or riding on the float. They were also asked if they could wear work clothes. Anyone who did not attend the meeting and would like more information about the float and the parade theme should call Kim at 645-­3901.
