1926 – 2014

DIXFIELD — Raymond J. Albert, 88, of Dixfield, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, May 18.

He was born in Rumford on March 20, 1926, a son of Vila and Annie (Chenard) Albert. Ray attended Rumford-area schools. He married Cecile Fisher on July 9, 1945, and they celebrated 58 years of marriage; she passed away on Dec. 31, 2003.

Ray was employed for 42 years with Oxford Paper Co. and retired as foreman in the beater room. He was a communicant of St. John’s Catholic Church in Rumford and St. Joseph’s in Dixfield.

Ray enjoyed golfing at Oakdale Country Club, boating, hunting, fishing and spending time with family. He also enjoyed his winters in St. Petersburg, Fla. Ray was very proud of his 1978 dark green Mercedes, and spent many hours polishing it and could be seen driving around town in it.

Surviving are his daughter, Louise Agnew and husband, “Porky,” of Antioch, Calif.; a brother, Donald Albert, of Rumford; granddaughters, Shana and Ginger Malone; dear friends, Cathy Child of Dixfield and Gene and Anita Child of Dixfield; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Cecile (Fisher) Albert; and two sisters, Theresa Albert Legere and Lillian Albert Murphy.
