NORWAY — An Organic Seedling Sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Alan Day Community Garden. A free composting workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to noon.
The garden is featuring a special Garden Fairy Felting Workshop with Nettie Gentempo from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. as a fundraiser. Participants will be provided with instruction, supplies and lunch for a sliding scale fee of $35 to 60 to make garden fairies and vegetables.
This mission of the Alan Day Community Garden is to cooperatively create an educational demonstration garden where people can grow their own food, using organic, sustainable methods to support an enduring community food system.
Located at 26 Whitman St., there are plots available for individuals, families and businesses. This year garden angels have offered to provide free sponsorship for anyone who wants a plot to grow food.
Job opportunities are available for young people in the youth leadership program in conjunction with the career center. Contact garden Coordinator Rocky Crockett for more information at 346-0708. Check out the website for more events and free workshops all summer at www.alandaygarden.wordpress.com.
