WILTON — A Memorial Day service and community walk will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at the monument on Main Street, Selectman Thomas Saviello said.

Boy Scouts will raise the flag, then lower it to half-mast and the Old Crow Band will provide music, he told selectmen on Tuesday. A wreath will be placed at the monument.

Following the service at the monument, a community walk along Main Street to the American Legion hall will be led by the Fire Department color guard, said Saviello, who organized the event.

Upon reaching the hall, the flag will be raised and lowered, he said. Short speeches, prayer and music by the Old Crow Band is planned.

For those who don’t want to walk, Russell Black will provide transportation in a hay wagon, he said.

This is the first Memorial Day service in Wilton since 1992, Saviello said.
