OXFORD — Aroma Joe’s coffee shop is under construction in Oxford Plaza and will employ 20 people by midsummer, according to one of the four owners of the franchise.

Alisha Klar of Minot, along with Marvin Mayberry, Cathy Leblanc and Stacy Leblanc, all of Maine, will open the drive-through shop in late July or early August on leased land next to TD Bank on Route 26. It previously was the site of a C.N. Brown gas station.

Klar said the location appealed to the owners because of the traffic and Dunkin’ Donuts, about a mile or two north Route 26 in Paris, doing an extremely good business.

“We knew there was room for another coffee shop in the area,” she said.

The co-owners received a site plan review approval for the 19- by 60-foot shop last month, Oxford Code Enforcement Officer Rodney Smith said.

The site is being leased from Speedway Inc. The shop will hook into the town water and sewer system, Smith said.

Aroma Joe’s has been constructing coffee shops for more than a decade. The first one opened in a parking lot in East Rochester, N.H., and the most recent opening was in Waterville.

According to its website, the company offers “wicked good” coffee, specialty espresso drinks and flavor-infused energy drinks. It also offers iced and hot drinks infused with flavors, including toasted marshmallow, gingerbread and green apple, along with sugar-free drinks.

Klar said they expect to start the hiring process soon through their website and at the building site.
