FARMINGTON — The Mt. Blue High School Chamber Singers, Jazz Band and Jazz Combo will present their end-of-year concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 29, in the Bjorn Auditorium on the Mt. Blue Campus.

These outstanding music ensembles received “gold/superior” ratings at the Worldstrides Heritage Music Festival in Boston in March, as well as collectively receiving the Spirit of Boston Award for outstanding citizenship while participating at the festival.

The Jazz Band and Combo are under the leadership of Karen Beacham, who just received the 2014 Maine Music Educators Teacher of the Year Award during the recent All-State Music Festival held at the University of Maine in Orono.

Carol Shumway, who in 2012, was inducted into the Maine Music Educators Association Hall of Fame, directs the Chamber Singers. Accompanying the Chamber Singers is Patricia Hayden, well-known and respected pianist and organist.

Also performing as a guest soloist with the Chamber Singers will be Graybert Beacham, professional violinist and area music educator.

Special recognition will be given to the numerous MBHS graduating seniors whose dedication and talents were significant to the success of the ensembles.

The concert is free and open to the public.
