The Road to Recovery Program sponsored by the American Cancer Society is a service offered in which volunteer drivers provide cancer patients with transportation to and from their scheduled medical appointments. Drivers donate their time and the use of their personal vehicles to help ensure that cancer patients get the lifesaving treatments they need.

The Road to Recovery Program is very important to the River Valley area as it helps those cancer patients with their transportation to their treatment schedules when family or friends aren’t available to take them. Many patients need daily or weekly treatments over a period of months and simply have no way to get there.

Although family and friends may be able to help, there are many times when they’re not available and the Road to Recovery Program provides transportation options for patients in this situation.

To find out how you can volunteer to drive or if you need this program, please give Diane Mitchell a call at 364-8358 or call 1-800-227-2345, your local American Cancer Society office.
