1927 – 2014

NORWAY — Elva E. Sturtevant, 87, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, at her home.

She was born in Buckfield on April 11, 1927, a daughter of Charles A. Sanborn and Leona (Damon) Sanborn. She grew up in Buckfield and graduated from Buckfield High School in 1945. She later attended Bliss Business College in Lewiston.

During her life, she worked at various jobs, including at Maine Apple Growers, Western Maine Transportation and Community Concepts.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed family gatherings. She also loved to shop and buy presents for her daughters and granddaughters. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren, and all of their accomplishments.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Turnage and her husband, David, of Fairfield, Patti Saarinen and her forever partner, Raymond, of Norway and Kathy Saarinen and her husband, Kirk Jones, of Buckfield; four granddaughters, Jamie Turnage and her husband, Nick Graham, of Rochester, N.Y., Kira Turnage of Santa Monica, Calif., Abby Jones of Buckfield and Sami Jones of Buckfield; a great-granddaughter, Rowan Graham, of Rochester, N.Y.; her sisters, Cora Cooper of New Harbor and Florence Packard of Sherman Mills; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Leona Sanborn; her daughter, Gail S. Riley; her husband, Howard Sturtevant; and her brothers, Clarence Sanborn and Vernon Damon.
