LIVERMORE FALLS — A local man was seriously injured Sunday morning when he was struck by a vehicle while in a crosswalk on Depot Street, police Chief Ernest Steward Sr. said Monday.

A vehicle driven by Ava Crocker, 57, of Jay struck Richard McCrillis, 82, of Livermore Falls, Steward said.

McCrillis was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

The car’s left front struck McCrillis, and he hit the windshield and landed on the ground, Steward said.

The accident occurred at 9:37 a.m.

Crocker told police she didn’t see McCrillis in the crosswalk until it was too late, and she was unable to avoid hitting him, he said.
