1937 – 2014

AUBURN — Roy A. Williams, 76, of East Waterman Road, Auburn, died in the arms of his loving wife, Flo, at his home on Tuesday, June 3.

He was born in Bridgeport, Conn., on Nov. 4, 1937, the son of the late Chauncey and Gertrude (Harrison) Williams.

Roy married the love of his life, Flora Fogg, on June 16, 1962. After their marriage, Roy served as minister of music for five years at First Baptist Church in Muncie, Ind., before returning to his home state of Connecticut. There, he served as the minister of music at Black Rock Congregational Church in Fairfield for 14 years. Roy had a passion for music, but a greater passion for the youth he led and teaching them the gift of music.

When his time in church ministry ended, Roy and Flo returned to her home in Auburn. Roy became a co-owner of The Bible Book Store, where he worked until his retirement. He was a faithful member and served as an elder at East Auburn Baptist Church.

Roy took great pleasure in the beautiful, simple delights of life. He enjoyed working in his flower garden, and loved being near the sea and being with his pet, Newfie.

Most of all, Roy enjoyed being with people and people loved being with him. At the celebration of his and Flo’s 50th wedding anniversary, people came from across the country to celebrate the couple who loved, cared for and invested in their lives. Roy will be remembered as a kind friend, a wise adviser and a loving father and grandfather to many. But most important, he will be remembered as a servant of God, seeking to share His love with all.

He is survived by Flo, his wife of 52 years, as well as many extended family members who have faith he is home in Heaven and that they will see him again.
