MINOT — The Minot Historical Society presented a program on the life of former Minot resident William H. Burgess (1886-1967) at a recent meeting. The presentation was given by William B. Krohn, professor emeritus, Department of Wildlife Ecology, University of Maine, Orono.
He said, “Bill Burgess was maker of ‘State-O-Maine’ fishing tackle. He also made lures and flies, and if you have any of these, you are very lucky.”
There will be a public supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the West Minot Grange Hall. Proceeds will be used for the future home of the society.
The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, when the Junior History Club members will tell stories of their past year’s activities.
