RUMFORD — James Windover, who lost a bid for selectman by 20 votes to incumbent Jeff Sterling on Tuesday, has filed for a ballot inspection and recount, Town Clerk Beth Bellegarde said.

She said she is consulting with lawyers on the exact process.

Windover received 551 votes and Sterling got 571 for a three-year term.

Official results from Tuesday’s town meeting referendum were posted Thursday afternoon on the bulletin board on the second floor of the Municipal Building. There was very little change in tallies from the initial unofficial counts released late Wednesday afternoon, Bellegarde said.
