1928 – 2014

AUBURN — Therese B. Mathieu, 86, formerly of Old Webster Road in Lewiston, died Thursday, June 19, at Clover Heath Care, with her loving family at her side.

She was born in Lewiston on Jan. 20, 1928, a daughter of the late Mathias and Odelie (Parent) Bisson. She worked in many different local shoe shops as a hand sewer. She was one of the few women hand sewers in the city of Lewiston for many years.

Therese married the love of her life, Roger E. Mathieu, on March 31, 1951; he predeceased her in 1987. She took care of her grandsons for many years and enjoyed every minute of it. She loved and was very proud of all her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking and making egg sandwiches or crepes for anyone who asked. She looked forward to gallivanting and eating out with her sisters, Alice and Laurette, as often as she could.

Therese leaves three daughters, Doris Mathieu of Lewiston, Nancy Cyr and husband, Tom, of Lewiston and Sandy Paine and husband, Dave, of Lewiston; a son, Steve Mathieu and wife, Janelle, of Lewiston; four grandchildren, Amy Cyr of Lewiston, Matt Cyr of Long Beach, Calif., Mike Paine of Lewiston and Chris Paine of Lewiston; a sister, Laurette Moore of Lisbon; a brother, Ovila Bisson and wife, Armande, of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by numerous brothers and sisters.

The family would like to send a special thank-you to the staff at Clover Heath Care, including Millie, Claudette, Bunny and Gisela, and a very special thank-you to Barbara and Shelly for their genuine love and friendship to mom and our family.
