DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Liberty Festival is Lewiston-Auburn’s annual Fourth of July celebration. This year the festival has a great lineup of stage performances and food and merchandise vendors to keep visitors busy throughout the day and night.

Volunteer positions are available for everything from setup to take-down, including information booth and parking lot attendants. The festival still has booth and display space available for local vendors.

Additionally, the festival would like to host a flag-burning ceremony and is looking to make contact with a local group interested in organizing such an event.

Anyone interested in participating in the festival can email info@libertyfestival.org or call 207-212-8227. — Christina Noonan, Liberty Festival marketing chairwoman

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am responding to the June 14 inquiry about Great Escape Tours. Over the years, my friends and I have taken numerous trips with Tour BUSters , now Great Escape Tours.

Barry, the owner, is detail and customer oriented, knowledgeable and committed to quality experiences for those traveling with him . Simply put, he is an outstanding travel professional, and it is always a pleasure to be on one of his trips.

Our most recent jaunt was on April 26 to see “The Book of Mormon” in Boston. In addition to one-day trips to Boston, we have also been on overnights to New York City and Quebec City.

We have never been disappointed! I highly recommend Great Escape Tours and Barry without reservation. — Phyllis, Auburn

DEAR SUN SPOTS; To the lady asking about tours. Jean’s Tours would be the one to look into. We have been on several trips with her and her husband. They are a very caring couple and keep themselves busy having tours for seniors.

Great fun on the bus, good places to eat, just so much fun to be with. Pickup points are in the Lewiston and Auburn area, also along the way. They can be reached at 207-784-5264. — Pearl Fifield, grammypearl@roadrunner.com
