1927 – 2014

RUMFORD — Flora M. Pelletier, 86, of Franklin Street, passed away on Monday, June 23, at Rumford Hospital following a long illness, with loving family at her side.

She was born in Rumford on July 11, 1927, a daughter of Josephine Lanteigne and Gustave Parise. Flora attended St. John’s School and was a graduate of Stephens High School.

She married Emile A. Pelletier Sr. on May 27, 1948; he passed away on Dec. 7, 1969, and Flora raised nine children with the help of family and friends.

She was employed at JJ Newberry’s, Diamond Match Co., and Oxford Paper Co. Flora also worked as a nurse’s aide at Rumford Hospital for 18 years. She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Flora loved bowling, playing bingo and cards, knitting and crocheting, and was an avid Red Sox fan. She also loved taking vacations with her daughters and many trips to the casino. Flora enjoyed her visits to Biddeford to spend time with her sister, Anita. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and valued the many friendships she made at Concord Apartments. She loved the holidays and will be remembered for her famous meat pies.

Surviving are her children, Richard Pelletier and wife, Debbie, of Skowhegan, Emile Pelletier Jr. and companion, Donna, of Goshen, N.H., Ronald Pelletier and companion, Denise, of Shelton, Conn., Daniel Pelletier and wife, Peggy, of Canton, Gerald Pelletier of Mexico, Marguerite Pelletier of Manchester, N.H., Priscilla Belanger and husband, Edward, of Sanford and Annette Kerr and husband, Joseph, of Peru; a sister, Anita Fournier, of Biddeford; two brothers, Robert Parise and wife, Carol, of Rumford and Joseph Parise and companion, Judy, of Andover; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Emile A. Pelletier Sr.; a daughter, Constance Barry; a sister, Juliette Blair Tipton; and three brothers, Gerald Parise, Terrance Parise and Francis Parise.
