1924 – 2014

FARMINGTON — Linda Kyllonen Reckards, 89, of Livermore Falls, passed away on Friday, June 20, at Orchard Park Rehab and Living Center, with her loving family by her side.

She was born on Dec. 4, 1924, in Otisfield, the daughter of Erkki and Liisa (Pulkkinen) Kyllonen, and attended school in Jay. On Aug. 9, 1944, she married Robert Reckards in Buckfield and for several years, they lived and raised their children in Mount Vernon. She worked at Bass Shoe and Stewart’s Canning, and cooked at a nursing home in Leeds.

Linda was well-known for her cooking skills in making “awesome” doughnuts, breads and pies, which she also taught other members of the family to do. She made the best peanut butter fudge, but would only let the rest of the family have some after her husband first had all that he wanted.

She enjoyed playing cards, especially with the family. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the nurses and staff at Orchard Park for the excellent care that Linda received while being a patient there.

She is survived by her five daughters, Janet Nile and husband, Douglas, of New Vineyard, Martha Pomerlow and husband, Bill, of Norridgewock, Annie Nightingale and husband, Randy, of New Sharon, Mona Nile and significant other, David Farrington Sr., of Jay and Loretta McPeek of Woburn, Mass.; her sons, Earle Reckards of Livermore Falls and Eric Reckards of Madison; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Reckards; her son, Thomas Reckards; three grandsons, Dana Skidgell, Duane Skidgell and Craig Nile; and six siblings.
