BANGOR — The former finance director of the Passamaquoddy Indian Tribe has pleaded guilty to stealing $20,000 from the Maine tribe.

Fifty-nine-year-old Charles Fourcloud was fired as finance director of the Passamaquoddy’s Pleasant Point reservation government in September for lying about his identity.

He pleaded guilty on Thursday to stealing more than $20,000 from the tribe.

He faces up to 10 years in prison on the theft charge and up to five years on each of the three embezzlement charges as well as fines of as much as $ 1million. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
