MOSCOW — Police say five people were hurt when a logging truck flipped over and spilled three tree-length logs that crushed an SUV in central Maine.

Somerset County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Dale Lancaster says it took about two hours to extricate the male driver of the SUV after the crash at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday on Route 201 in Moscow.

The Morning Sentinel reports that the driver was flown to a Bangor hospital. Two female passengers and an infant passenger as well as the driver of the truck were taken by ambulance to a Skowhegan hospital.

Lancaster says their injuries do not appear life-threatening. No names were released.

The SUV was destroyed.

Lancaster says the logging truck driver lost control after blowing a tire.

The accident remains under investigation.
