Turner fireworks on July 4

TURNER — The Town of Turner fireworks show will be held July 4 in Caldwell fields in Turner Center. They will start at 8:45 and are free.

Golden Age Club meeting, trip

AUBURN — The Golden Age Club will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8.

Meal will include burgers, hot dogs, fries, drink and ice cream.

In case of rain, they will meet at Sacred Heart Hall.

A trip to Boothbay Harbor is planned for Aug. 12. Seniors from other groups are invited. Cost is $30. Reservations must be made no later than July 30.

Lewiston Bridge Club winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners of the New England-wide STaC tournament at the Lewiston Armory on June 23 were as follows: first, Richard Balian and Luke Merry; second, Jan and Vern Arey; third, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; fourth, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe.

The Monday A.M. championship tournament was played by 176 pairs in New England. Luke Merry and Richard Balian tied for fourth place overall in Flight B.

Winners of the New England-wide STaC tournament at the Armory on June 24 were as follows: N/S first, Patricia Garcia and David Lock, first overall; second, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn, third overall; third, Hazel Glazier and Richard Allen; fourth/first in C, Della Starbird and Paul Clement; E/W first, Patricia Quinn and Richard Balian, second overall; second, Jeanine Kivus and Fred Letourneau, fourth overall; third, Nancy Farmer and Marta Clements, fifth overall; first in C, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe.

The Tuesday A.M. New England-wide championship was played by 171 pairs. Patricia Garcia and David Lock placed second overall in Flight A and first overall in Flight B. Patricia Quinn and Richard Balian placed fifth overall in Flight B.

Congratulations to the only Maine overall winners from the Lewiston Bridge Club.
