SCARBOROUGH (AP) — Police say the man who drowned at a Scarborough campground over the weekend was from Portland.

The victim of Sunday’s drowning at Wassamki Springs Campground was identified Monday as 45-year-old Giot Nguyen.

Police say Nguyen, who had been drinking, tried to swim to a small island in the lake at the campground.

The man began to have difficulty and family members and witnesses took him to the island. They performed CPR there until he was transferred back to the campground.
